MALVERN BAPTIST CHURCH

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Suffering Church Action Week

Sunday 29 October – Sunday 5 November 2017

Every year Barnabas Fund ask their supporting churches to observe a Suffering Church Action Week in remembrance of and in fund raising for the Suffering Churches. This is  linked to the ‘International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church’ is supported by Barnabas Aid, Open Doors, The Evangelical Alliance, Release, Christian Solidarity Worldwide, the Religious Liberty Commission.)

This is a chance to once again think about the fate of persecuted Christians throughout the world (its not just the Middle East which is the impression you might get from the news). This has been quite a year, with the plight of Christians, so long ignored by the secular press and established churches, finally making it to the front page.

24th April 2015 was the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. It is such a great tragedy that nothing seems to have been learnt by the East or the West as a result of that horror, and events seem to be repeating themselves again.

Last year thousands of Christians around the world joined in prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters, with events being held across the country. Prayer events were held in at least 36 countries and thousands of people joined in the day.” - Barnabas Fund

This year is again dominated by the fate of Christians in Syria and Iran.
